Off-Season 2025 with McLaren F1 Drivers

When you're a Formula 1 Driver, off-season looks very different for you.
For the two McLaren F1 drivers for 2025, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the scene is one of adventure and anticipation.

With the seats locked in for the season, there is little of worry on that end for the Brit and Aussie driver. But a lot is riding on their shoulders for the upcoming 2025 season. With McLaren's Constructors' Championship Win in 2024, ennding the draught since 1998, all eyes are on the team and these two drivers. Questionable Papaya Rules had sparked huge discussions last season with the team warning Lando Norris on radio about letting Oscar pass as he would need the team to win the championship. However, 2024 was not Norris' year despite having his first race win in Miami last season.

Despite controversial circumstances, Piastri also scored his first win in Formula One in 2024 at the Hungarian GP.

While it is clear that the team did not favor one driver over another last season, the new season is bringing fresh rivalry on track and new faces to the sport. It still remains to be seen how the orange team sorts its priorities going forward, specially considering that there's a more or less open seat at RedBull Racing this year.

But away from the track and politics of the paddock, the drivers are in off-season before testing begins in Shakir on February 27.

While Lando Norris has chosen a more laid-back schedule for his time off before jumping back into training, add snowboarding, partying and golfing, Piastri has been doing public appearances and getting into controversies off the track.

Making a sly comment about the Kohli-Konstas incident while he was in attendance at the MCG on day three of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Match (cricket) between India and Australia, Piastri ruled the headlines in the sports section internationally.
If this is his way of staying at the forefront even during the off-season, it cannot be determined if this was the correct path to take for his growing "brand image".
As the drivers go back in training mid to late January, tensions would be running high to reach all the goals the team has set up for itself. 2025 is about to bring the heat and McLaren has secured itself a front-row seat with both driver drama on and off track.

All Eyes on Sainz: A Comeback in Williams

While the Hamilton move to Ferrari has taken the F1 world by storm, there's hardly any unsympathetic soul in the paddock (or in fans across the world) to Sainz's situation. In an ultimate show of sportsmanship, Sainz has been handling it with the utmost grace and character since the beginning of the 2024 season. This year's paddock drama begins with this very curated driver lineup for the FIA Drivers' Press Conference Group 2 as Carlos Sainz Jr., Lewis Hamilton, and Kimi Antonelli line up for their first Q&A of the season. While all three drivers seemed comfortable in their new colours and spoke about having high hopes for this season with their new teams, there's no denying that Carlos Sainz's goals this season in a Williams car is vastly different from that of Lewis and Kimi in their Ferrari and Mercedes, respectfully. Not Quite a Victory Lap for Christian Horner on Drive to Survive Season 7

Despite obvious censure from lawyers, Christia Horner RedBull allegation from the 2024 season finds a prominent spot on Drive To Survive season 7. The first episode titled "Business as Usual", a phrase Horner had turned to whenever asked about his role in the team at the beginning of last year, deals with the two most shocking developments in recent Formula One history, Christian Horner's scandal and Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari. DTS had minted a huge amount of footage during the first two races of the 2024 season, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, enough content to have a 10-episode show of its own but the Christian Horner drama is only rehashed as plotpoint one in episode one. The censure is not shied away from. The producers from Box to Box have brought exclusive footage from the exact moment the explosive email with text messages was sent out to the paddock and Horner's reaction to it all.  Even though the sources were not verified for the texts leak, Horner has ...

Max to Mercedes or Horner Out?

A Verstappen move away from RedBull is something nobody predicted for the 2024 Formula 1 season. But unexpectedly, that’s what we’re left speculating. Following Jos Verstappen’s postulations against the recent Christian Horner scandal and very shady investigation and resultant acquittal, the RedBull paddock is alight with gossip about a possible move from Max Verstappen. While the second seat at RedBull is up for grabs in the 2025 season, as Checo’s contract hasn’t been renewed yet, Max Verstappen and RedBull Racing have become synonymous as the car keeps performing consistently and the driver cruises through victory after victory since the 2023 season. After his landslide win in 2023, the 2024 season has also begun in similar tunes where even the drivers on the grid are aiming for P2 and Max Verstappen is consistently keeping a race lead of 5+ seconds from the rest of the pack. Verstappen moving to any other team on the grid would make Formula One interesting again but it will be lucr...
